Contestants Advance in 'Current King of Masked Singer 2' Redemption Round

In the latest episode of MBN's Current King of Masked Singer 2 (현역가왕2), contestants Jin Hae-sung (진해성), Kim Jung-yeon (김중연), Song Min-jun (송민준), Jae-ha (재하), and Yang Ji-won (양지원) successfully advanced through the redemption round. The episode aired on December 24, 2024, and featured a unique twist where the fate of eliminated contestants was determined by votes from their fellow competitors who had already secured their spots in the finals.

Following the conclusion of the one-on-one death matches involving 32 contestants, 16 were left facing elimination, including Park Gu-yoon (박구윤), Kim Jung-yeon, Song Min-jun, Yoon Jun-hyup (윤준협), Jin Hae-sung, Han Gang (한강), Choi Soo-ho (최수호), Jeong Da-han (정다한), Park Jun-young (박준영), Jae-ha, Gong Hoon (공훈), Kwak Young-gwang (곽영광), and Lee Hyun-seung (이현승).

These contestants formed teams of four to perform designated songs in the redemption round. Host Shin Dong-yeop (신동엽) surprised everyone by announcing that only four out of the 16 would be saved, a change from the previous season. The voting was conducted by the confirmed finalists, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition.

The teams performed songs such as Park Sang-cheol's 'Jaok-a' (자옥아) featuring Park Gu-yoon, Kim Jung-yeon, Park Jun-young, and Lee Hyun-seung; Jang Min-ho's 'Men Speak' (남자는 말합니다) with Song Min-jun, Jin Hae-sung, Han Gang, and Jae-ha; Jin Sung's 'Don't Go' (가지마) with Yoo-min, Choi Soo-ho, Yang Ji-won, and Jeong Da-han; and Yoo Jin-pyo's 'Thousand Years' (천년지가) featuring Yoon Jun-hyup, Hyo-seong, Gong Hoon, and Kwak Young-gwang.

After the performances, Park Gu-yoon, Gong Hoon, Choi Soo-ho, and Han Gang received the highest votes from their respective teams, allowing them to advance to the second round. Kim Soo-chan (김수찬) expressed his regret to Park Gu-yoon, saying, "I'm sorry. It’s because of me."

As the eliminated contestants lamented their fate, the production team called them back, revealing that the redemption round was not yet over. Ultimately, the celebrity judging panel selected Jin Hae-sung, Kim Jung-yeon, Song Min-jun, Jae-ha, and Yang Ji-won as additional qualifiers, raising excitement for the next stages of the competition.
