Comedian Park Na-rae Donates to Victims of Muan Airplane Tragedy

Comedian Park Na-rae, known to be from Muan, has expressed her deep condolences regarding the recent airplane tragedy and has made a generous donation to support the victims.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on December 29 at 9:03 AM, a Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, attempted to land at Muan International Airport but crashed into the runway's outer wall due to its landing gear failing to deploy. Tragically, out of the 181 passengers on board, 179 lost their lives, leaving only 2 survivors.

The sudden news of this disaster has prompted a wave of mourning within the entertainment industry. Various broadcasting networks have opted to cancel their scheduled programming in favor of special news coverage, and award ceremonies have been suspended as a mark of respect.

In the wake of the tragedy, Park Na-rae took to her personal social media on the day of the incident to share a message of condolence, posting a photo of white chrysanthemums along with the words, "May the souls of the deceased rest in peace."

On December 30, a representative from Park Na-rae's team confirmed that she had made a donation to aid the victims of the airplane crash. They stated, "Park Na-rae has contributed funds to support those affected by the Jeju Air incident."

The representative further explained, "She reached out directly to the local government to make her donation. However, she prefers not to disclose the specific amount, and we ask for your understanding in this matter."

In response, netizens have expressed their sentiments, saying, "I can't imagine the pain they must feel," and "Park Na-rae is a thoughtful celebrity; I will pray alongside her." Many have shared their condolences, emphasizing that sharing in the grief can be a form of comfort.

Park Na-rae was born in Muan, Jeollanam-do, and spent her childhood in Mokpo. Her donation to support the victims of the tragedy in her hometown reflects her deep connection to the area.

Additionally, the government has declared a national mourning period until January 4 at midnight.
