Comedian Lee Kyung-sil Resolves Apartment Auction Issue
Comedian Lee Kyung-sil has addressed the recent auction news regarding her apartment in Yongsan's Ichon-dong, stating, "To get straight to the point, it has been resolved well." On May 16, she took to Instagram to apologize to those who were surprised and concerned about the situation, saying, "I’m sorry for not being able to answer your questions and for the shock and worry many of you felt."
Lee explained that after not working for several years, she sought a stable income by making some investments. While things were fine for a few years, complications arose over the last three years, leading to her current predicament. She expressed her anxiety about her children finding out and her desire to resolve the issue quietly, admitting, "It was embarrassing for the whole nation to know about it."
As she confirmed the resolution of the issue, she humorously mentioned her wish to share a photo of the cancellation receipt but decided against it. She also expressed gratitude and apologies to her friends who were worried about her.
Previously, on May 15, it was reported by real estate auction data company Gigi Auction that Lee's 293 square meter (approximately 89 pyeong) apartment in Yongsan would be auctioned on May 27 at the Seoul Western District Court. The auction was believed to be a result of her failure to repay a loan secured by the apartment. A creditor had placed a lien on the property for a maximum claim of 1.8 billion KRW, and a court-ordered auction was initiated after the creditor filed for it last September due to overdue payments. The creditor later transferred the claim to a lending company.
