Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu Under Investigation for Driving Under the Influence of Medication

Lee Kyung-kyu (이경규), a well-known comedian and master of TV Chosun's Mister Trot 3, has been summoned by the Gangnam Police in Seoul for allegedly driving under the influence of medication. The incident occurred on June 8, when Lee mistakenly drove another person's car in a hospital parking lot, leading to a theft report being filed against him. A preliminary drug test conducted at the scene returned a positive result for benzodiazepines, a class of psychoactive drugs. Lee's representatives stated that he confused the other vehicle with his own, as they were identical in make, model, year, and color. They clarified that he had only taken prescribed cold and anxiety medications. Despite this, the law prohibits driving under the influence of any substance that could impair driving ability. The police are investigating whether Lee's medication may have affected his ability to drive safely. Lee's agency, ADG Company, emphasized that the medications he took were legally prescribed by a specialist after he experienced sudden symptoms the night before the incident, prompting him to drive himself to the hospital the following day.
