Comedian Hong Hyun-hee Unable to Attend MBC Entertainment Awards Due to Severe Back Pain

Comedian 홍현희 (Hong Hyun-hee) was unable to attend the '2024 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards' due to severe back pain. On January 29, her agency, T&Entertainment, confirmed the news, stating, "The reason for 홍현희's absence from the awards ceremony is due to back pain."

The agency further explained, "홍현희 had initially planned to go to the hospital after the recording, but her condition worsened to the point where she could barely walk. It was determined that attending the ceremony would be too difficult, leading to her unavoidable absence."

They also clarified that she has not been officially diagnosed with a herniated disc or similar condition. It appears that her health deteriorated after long hours of recording and participating in childcare. The agency expressed hope that she would rest and return to a healthy state soon.

홍현희 was scheduled to attend the awards on January 28, where she was nominated for the Best Female Award. Despite her absence, her makeup artist, '샵뚱' (Shop Ddung), accepted the award on her behalf, highlighting the unfortunate situation.

Reports indicated that 홍현희 had sought medical attention after the recording in an effort to manage her pain, but ultimately, she could not attend the event due to her ongoing discomfort.
