Comedian and Singer Jang Doo-seok Remembered One Year After His Passing

It has been one year since the passing of comedian and singer Jang Doo-seok (장두석), who died on July 22, 2024, at the age of 67 due to chronic kidney disease. Born in 1957 in Jeju Island, Jang made his debut in the entertainment industry after winning a silver medal at the 2nd TBC Comedy Contest in 1980.

He became a beloved figure in the 1980s, creating popular segments such as 'Sikermuns' and 'Part-time Job.' Jang also showcased his versatility as an entertainer by releasing music, with his song 'Even If I Say I Love You' still cherished by fans today.

After a successful career as both a comedian and singer, Jang stepped away from the spotlight in 1992 following his appearance in the 'Fan Master' segment of KBS2's 'Humor 1' (유머1번지). He then ventured into business in areas like Apgujeong and Yongsan.

One of his famous catchphrases, 'Excuse me, excuse me,' from the 'Fan Master' segment gained renewed attention when it was referenced in the 2015 tvN drama 'Reply 1988' (응답하라 1988) by characters played by Hyeri and Kim Sung-kyun.
