Coast Guard Officer Charged with Stalking and Threatening Subordinate

A senior officer from the Incheon Coast Guard has been referred to the prosecution for allegedly stalking and threatening a female subordinate. According to the Incheon Police Agency and the Korea Coast Guard, the 40-year-old officer, identified as A, is accused of violating the Stalking Crime Punishment Act and making threats.
The incidents reportedly occurred between May and October of last year, during which A is said to have repeatedly stalked and threatened a junior officer, referred to as B. Investigations revealed that A demanded a romantic relationship with B while coercing other staff members not to disclose his actions.
Additionally, A allegedly attempted to physically assault B and spread negative rumors about her among colleagues. During police questioning, A denied the allegations. Following a notification of the investigation's initiation in October, the Korea Coast Guard suspended A from his position. A police official stated, "We summoned A for questioning and deemed the charges credible, leading to the referral of the case to the prosecution."
