Citizen Delivers 100 Cups of Coffee to Firefighters Using Recovery Coupons

On July 26, a generous citizen named Yoo O-kyun (유오균), 33, used his consumer recovery coupons to deliver over 100 cups of iced Americano coffee to firefighters in the Chuncheon area of Gangwon Province. The coffee was distributed to several fire stations, including Chuncheon Fire Station, Hyoja 119 Safety Center, Soyang 119 Safety Center, and Sinbuk 119 Safety Center. Yoo spent the full amount of his consumer coupon, totaling 180,000 KRW, on the coffee.

While on his way home, Yoo noticed the firefighters working hard in the sweltering heat and felt compelled to treat them with coffee. However, he realized that 180,000 KRW would not be enough to provide coffee for all the firefighters.

Through a friend, he was introduced to the owner of a franchise café. After explaining his situation, the café owner, referred to as Mr. A, kindly agreed to help, allowing Yoo to purchase 100 cups of coffee for the firefighters.

Initially, the firefighters hesitated to accept Yoo's gift, but after his heartfelt request, they accepted the coffee. When the fire station staff asked for Yoo's name and contact information to express their gratitude, he humbly declined, stating, 'It was just a small act of kindness.'

Yoo expressed, 'I had things I wanted to buy with the consumer support funds, but this was something I had always wanted to do. I never had the chance to give back to the firefighters who work tirelessly day and night, and it felt like everything aligned perfectly.' He also thanked the café owner for adjusting the price of the iced Americanos to make the purchase possible. Yoo mentioned that he hopes to have more opportunities in the future to treat those who deserve appreciation.
