Chun Jung-myung Reveals He Was Scammed by Longtime Manager, Considered Retirement

Actor Chun Jung-myung (천정명) recently opened up about being scammed by his manager of 16 years during an appearance on SBS TV's Miun Our Baby (미운 우리 새끼) on October 8. During the show, he was visited by his long-time friends, Kim Hee-chul (김희철) from Super Junior and Lee Sang-min (이상민) from the group Rula.
When Kim Hee-chul asked why Chun had not been taking on new projects lately, Chun revealed the difficult circumstances he has faced since 2019. He shared, "It was a very unfortunate event for me. Something significant happened."
Chun disclosed that he was a victim of a major scam orchestrated by his manager, stating, "It was a huge incident for me. I was scammed by my manager, who I had worked with for 16 years." He explained that the situation escalated because he had trusted the manager too much due to their close relationship, and even mentioned that the manager had also deceived his parents.
Chun expressed how exhausting and challenging it was to deal with the aftermath of the scam, admitting, "I even thought about retiring. It was mentally very tough for me." He revealed that the scam involved forgery of documents.
He recounted how victims of the scam came to the office of his agency, and he became emotional while recalling their faces. Chun described the amount he lost as "beyond imagination," adding, "I was sitting still, and I could feel the weight loss from the stress."
