Choi Min-hwan Defends Against Ex-Wife's Allegations, Cleared of Charges

Choi Min-hwan of FTISLAND has managed to defend himself against allegations made by his ex-wife, Yulhee. On November 29, he took to his social media to express his sincere apologies to fans, stating, "I am truly sorry for the distress I have caused. I believed it was right to wait until the police investigation confirmed my innocence before making a statement, which took longer than expected for thoroughness."

In his post, he addressed the one-sided claims and falsehoods that had spread as if they were facts, explaining that he felt revealing his position prematurely could worsen the situation. He emphasized the importance of managing the situation for the sake of their three children.

Previously, Yulhee had made shocking revelations on her personal YouTube channel, accusing Choi Min-hwan of visiting entertainment establishments during their marriage and of sexual harassment. She claimed he behaved inappropriately in front of family members, which left many in disbelief.

Choi Min-hwan, who divorced Yulhee in December last year, has been raising their three children as a single father, gaining public sympathy. He appeared on KBS2's "The Return of Superman" as a devoted dad, showing respect for Yulhee by stating that she plays a significant role in their children's lives.

However, Yulhee's allegations severely tarnished his image. Following the release of videos containing accusations of prostitution and sexual assault, netizens filed complaints with the National Police Agency. On November 29, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul concluded the investigation, determining there was insufficient evidence to charge Choi Min-hwan, thus closing the case without prosecution.

Breaking his silence, Choi Min-hwan expressed his remorse, saying, "I sincerely apologize to my fans and fellow members for the distress I have caused. I deeply regret my actions and am truly reflecting on my mistakes. I bow my head in apology for disappointing you all."

He added, "I will strive to show a more responsible and mature side of myself moving forward. I want to express my gratitude and apologies to everyone who has supported me through this difficult time."

As a result of Yulhee's allegations, Choi Min-hwan stepped back from all entertainment activities, and FTISLAND has continued as a duo without him. Meanwhile, Lee Hong-ki, a member of FTISLAND, shared a poignant message on the official fan community platform Weverse, stating, "This was a private matter between them, and it has escalated. Acknowledging mistakes and apologizing is important, but we should not believe everything too easily. We must endure and support each other."

With the charges against him dropped, fans are now watching closely to see if Choi Min-hwan will return to the group, fulfilling Lee Hong-ki's faith in him.

Choi Min-hwan and Yulhee, a former member of girl group LABOUM, first drew attention in 2017 when they publicly dated. Despite being active idols, they welcomed their first son in May the following year and officially married in October. The couple later had twin daughters but divorced in December last year, leading to a public dispute.
