Choi Gap-kyung and Hong Seo-beom Showcase Their 30-Year Marriage on 'We're Grown Up, But Not Leaving'

On March 22, 2025, MBC every1 and MBN aired an episode of 'We're Grown Up, But Not Leaving' featuring the couple Choi Gap-kyung (조갑경) and Hong Seo-beom (홍서범), who have been married for 30 years. Their daughters, Hong Seok-hee (홍석희) and Hong Seok-joo (홍석주), appeared on the show, revealing that they live as 'kangaroo kids' under the affectionate yet protective care of their parents.
Hong Seok-hee shared her experience of running a gelato shop, stating, "I started with determination, but it gradually became less enjoyable. Despite my efforts, it ultimately didn’t work out." She explained that she had used funds from her parents and her own savings to start the business, but after closing it, all her savings disappeared. Currently, she works as a manager at a brunch café.
Her sister, Hong Seok-joo, humorously referred to herself as unemployed, saying, "I’m preparing for employment." Hong Seok-hee added, "We’re living off our allowance, which surprised everyone."
The episode also depicted a typical morning in their household, showcasing the couple bickering playfully while preparing breakfast. Choi Gap-kyung questioned, "Why haven’t you cleaned up the shoes?" to which Hong Seo-beom retorted, "Aren’t you the one who hasn’t cleaned since we moved in?" Their exchanges were light-hearted, reflecting their daily life rather than a serious argument.
Choi Gap-kyung admitted, "I’m not good at throwing things away," while Hong Seok-joo chimed in, noting that their mother, Park Hae-mi (박해미), shares the same trait. Choi Gap-kyung then made a significant decision to declutter their shoe rack, expressing her desire to become a minimalist. Hong Seo-beom teased her about the old clutter disappearing, leading to a playful exchange where Choi Gap-kyung jokingly threatened divorce if he didn’t help, eliciting laughter from the family.
