Choi Dong-seok Donates to Support Jeju Air Crash Victims

Former announcer and broadcaster Choi Dong-seok has made a donation to support the victims of the Jeju Air crash. On January 1, he shared on social media, "I made a small donation related to the Muan Airport incident through the Red Cross. The donation process was simple and well-organized. If you have the heart, please consider it."

He also expressed gratitude for a warm bowl of tteokguk (rice cake soup) he received from a neighbor, reflecting on the significance of appreciating the small things in life amidst a clear blue sky.

Photos shared by Choi show him making the donation to the Korean Red Cross for the victims of the Jeju Air tragedy, alongside the humble meal he enjoyed. He encouraged others to consider donating as well, noting the ease of the process.

Following the tragic news, Choi expressed his sorrow, stating, "What words can comfort those who have lost their families? I extend my condolences. I hope that in the new year, everyone can overcome their pain and smile again."

Currently, Choi is in the midst of a divorce lawsuit with his ex-wife Park Ji-yoon. The couple, who married in 2009 and have two children, shocked fans with their separation news after 14 years of marriage. During the divorce proceedings, both parties have filed counterclaims against each other, denying allegations of infidelity and maintaining a contentious relationship.

In related news, the Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which took off from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while attempting to land at Muan Airport on December 29 at 9:03 AM. The aircraft collided with the runway's outer wall, resulting in a fire. Investigations suggest that the landing gear did not deploy during the landing attempt, leading to this catastrophic incident.

The flight carried a total of 181 individuals, including 6 crew members and 173 South Korean passengers, along with 2 Thai passengers. After an overnight search, authorities confirmed that only 2 crew members survived, while the remaining 179 passengers tragically lost their lives, marking this as one of the deadliest aviation accidents in South Korea's history.
