ChoA from Crayon Pop Opens Up About Her Battle with Cancer on 'Joseon's Love Fool'

ChoA, a former member of the popular K-pop group Crayon Pop, is set to appear on the TV CHOSUN documentary variety show '조선의 사랑꾼' (Joseon's Love Fool), where she will reveal her husband and share her journey battling cervical cancer. The episode, airing on February 3, features ChoA, who gained fame over a decade ago with her catchy melodies. Now in her fifth year of marriage, she expressed her desire to start a family with her husband, stating, "We want to have children soon and build a happy home together."
However, during her first year of marriage, ChoA received a shocking diagnosis of cervical cancer while undergoing a routine prenatal check-up. She candidly shared, "The thought that I might not be able to have children made me feel like life had lost its meaning."
On January 29, ChoA took to her social media to reflect on her struggles, saying, "Even though I usually laugh and enjoy life, there are moments when I face the reality of my changed circumstances, and it can be tough. Recently, I went through a difficult time, and I missed being able to unwind with my husband over a drink like I used to."
She continued, "I still find it hard to believe I was diagnosed with cancer. When I confront the reality I had been avoiding, it can feel overwhelming. But I remind myself that my current life, which I cherish, is a dream for someone else, and I am grateful for it."
Looking ahead, ChoA shared her hopes for the next five years, wishing for a day when she receives a clean bill of health and can enjoy a drink with her husband after a long day of parenting. "That would be perfect for me. Of course, I plan to take better care of my health and look forward to that day while enjoying the vintage wine my husband bought for me," she said.
As she approaches the two-year mark since her diagnosis, ChoA remains optimistic, stating, "The day I receive my clean bill of health will come soon, right?"
ChoA married a businessman six years her senior in 2021 and revealed her battle with cervical cancer in October of the previous year. She noted that during her surgery, the cancer was found to be smaller than expected, and she was miraculously able to preserve her fertility.
