Child Refuses to Wear Underwear on 'My Precious Child'
In the latest episode of Channel A's 'My Precious Child' (요즘 육아 - 금쪽같은 내 새끼), a young girl named Geumjok, who is about to enter the third grade, has been highlighted for her refusal to wear even basic clothing items like underwear. The episode aired on February 21, 2025, and featured a couple discussing their struggles with their late-born daughter, who was born when the mother was 42 years old. The mother expressed her concerns, stating, "She can't wear clothes. Even when I try to dress her, she finds everything uncomfortable, including pants and socks."
Footage showed Geumjok vehemently rejecting her mother's attempts to dress her, crying out, "Don't do it, Mom! Save me! I can't wear these pants; they are too tight!" The mother noted that while Geumjok used to tolerate clothing, her aversion has intensified over the past four to five months. She revealed that Geumjok has never worn jeans and refuses to wear socks with seams, often going without them altogether.
During a serious phone call with Geumjok's teacher, the mother learned that her daughter had come to school in a loose tank top during summer, which was deemed inappropriate by her peers. The teacher inquired about Geumjok's hygiene, to which the mother admitted, "We force her to shower once a week."
Despite the cold weather, Geumjok continues to wear sleeveless tops to school and refuses to wash or style her hair. The teacher expressed concern about the upcoming transition to third grade, where the curriculum will expand to nine or ten subjects, potentially overwhelming Geumjok. Alarmingly, Geumjok also refuses to wear underwear, typically opting for just a T-shirt. The mother lamented, "The filming crew has seen her without underwear. She just won't wear any."
Dr. Oh Eun-young analyzed Geumjok's behavior, suggesting that she may have heightened sensory sensitivities, particularly to touch. "She seems to be extremely sensitive to anything that touches her skin, including hair brushing, which she finds painful. This could lead to more difficulties in the future if not addressed," Dr. Oh explained.
Geumjok's discomfort with clothing has led her to venture outside in winter wearing only a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. After a piano lesson, she began to strip off her clothes at a friend's store, prompting Dr. Oh to comment on her tendency to make her mother cater to her needs, indicating a possible separation anxiety. The mother appeared to comply with Geumjok's demands, even serving her food while she lounged on the sofa engrossed in her phone.
