Child Refuses School Attendance on 'My Child is the Best'

In the latest episode of Channel A's 'My Child is the Best' (요즘 육아 - 금쪽같은 내새끼), a poignant story unfolded about a father and son grappling with extreme anxiety. The featured child, currently in the second grade, has been refusing to attend school for the past two months, a situation that began when he advanced to the second grade. His mother expressed concern that he might face retention if he continues to miss school.
Dr. Oh Eun-young noted that the child experiences physical symptoms of anxiety, such as stomachaches, when he attempts to go to school. Upon seeing the classroom, he often tries to escape, which Dr. Oh described as a clear sign of anxiety.
Interestingly, there are no external factors contributing to his refusal; he does not face bullying from classmates nor does he have issues with his teacher. After preparing snacks for her son, the mother left for work, leaving him alone.
While home alone, the child frequently called his mother via video chat and even activated a location tracking app to monitor her whereabouts as she commuted home. As the time for her arrival passed, he was found curled up in his room, visibly upset. When his mother entered, he shouted, "Get out!" in a distressed manner, surprising her.
In a fit of rage, he began throwing books and expressed his anger towards his mother, saying, "This is all your fault. You did this to me!" He shockingly declared, "I’m useless," and continued with alarming statements like, "Hurry and bury me," which left his mother in tears, struggling to maintain her composure.
