Chef Yoon Nam-no Shares Experience of Bullying in Australia

On the April 12 episode of MBC's variety show, 전지적 참견 시점 (The Manager), chef Yoon Nam-no opened up about his troubling experiences of bullying while working in Australia. During the show, he celebrated a staff member's birthday by serving 미역국 (seaweed soup) and learned that the employee would be leaving for Australia in June. Yoon shared his own journey, recalling, "I went to Australia with 300,000 won. I went straight to a lettuce farm, worked for a month, and then headed to Sydney. I asked to work in restaurants, even if it was just washing dishes, but no one would hire me."

Eventually, Yoon managed to secure a position at a well-known restaurant, but he described the challenges he faced there. "I went through a lot of tough experiences. I still get emotional thinking about it. I was often poked and teased by others. While I needed to focus on my knife skills, I had to constantly watch my back. They would hit me from behind, causing me to stab myself with my own knife," he revealed.

Yoon expressed that he often cried in the restaurant, feeling that running away would be even more embarrassing. Despite his past struggles, he encouraged the staff member embarking on a new journey, emphasizing the importance of resilience.
