Chef Ahn Yoo-sung Offers Support to Victims' Families of Jeju Air Tragedy

Chef Ahn Yoo-sung, known for his appearance on 'Black and White Chef' (흑백요리사), has expressed his sorrow over the recent Jeju Air tragedy that occurred on December 29 at Muan International Airport. The incident involved flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, which crashed while attempting to land, resulting in the loss of 179 lives. In a heartfelt gesture, Chef Ahn visited the airport to deliver 200 servings of kimbap to the families of the victims, aiming to provide some comfort during this difficult time. He plans to prepare tteokguk (rice cake soup) for the families on New Year's Day, further showcasing his compassion.

Ahn shared, "I only have the skill to cook, so I thought serving food would help ease my heart. We are all connected; we know each other through just one degree of separation." He also mentioned that a producer he worked with was among the deceased, deepening his sense of loss.

In a related note, Park In-young, sister of Super Junior member Leeteuk, expressed her grief over the loss of a friend, although she was not directly affected by the tragedy. On December 30, she posted on her personal account about her sorrow, stating, "I felt uneasy all day due to the tragic accident, and today I learned that a friend I performed with has passed away." She shared a photo with her late friend, wishing for their peace in the afterlife and reflecting on the emotional turmoil that often accompanies the end of the year. Park concluded her message by expressing her condolences to all families affected by the tragedy and offering prayers for the departed.

The crash occurred when the aircraft collided with a fence while attempting to land, leading to a significant fire that destroyed most of the plane, except for the tail section. Only two individuals were rescued from the wreckage. In response to this tragic event, the South Korean government has declared a national mourning period until January 4 at midnight, as the entertainment industry continues to pay tribute to the victims.
