Chef Ahn Yoo-sung and Singer Hong Jin-young Mourn Losses from Jeju Air Tragedy

Following the tragic Jeju Air incident, which occurred on December 29 at Jeonnam Muan International Airport, Chef Ahn Yoo-sung and singer Hong Jin-young have both expressed their sorrow over the loss of acquaintances. Chef Ahn, known for his appearance on 'Black and White Chef' (흑백요리사), made headlines when he personally delivered 200 servings of kimbap to the families of the victims at the airport. He plans to prepare tteokguk (rice cake soup) for them on New Year's Day, stating, "I only have the skill to cook, so I thought serving food would ease my heart. We are all connected; we know each other through one degree of separation." He also shared that a producer he worked with was among the deceased, deepening his sorrow.

Similarly, on December 31, Hong Jin-young took to her social media to reveal that her dentist was a passenger on the ill-fated flight. "I had just seen him for a check-up a few days ago," she lamented, expressing disbelief and paying tribute to him, saying, "He was a truly good person. Rest in peace."

Park In-young, known as the sister of Super Junior's Leeteuk, also shared her grief, although she did not lose anyone directly in the tragedy. On December 30, she posted about the passing of a friend she had performed with, stating, "I felt heavy-hearted all day due to the accident, and today I learned that my friend has passed away." She shared a photo with her late friend, wishing for her to no longer suffer from cancer in heaven. Park added, "As we approach the end of the year, it feels a bit sad. Tonight, I will pray for all those who have lost family members and for the remaining people in this world."

The Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which was arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while attempting to land, colliding with a fence and resulting in a significant fire. Tragically, 179 people lost their lives, while two were rescued. In light of this sudden tragedy, the entertainment industry has been in mourning, and the government has declared a national mourning period until January 4 at midnight.
