Chef Ahn Sung-jae's Mosu Seoul Targeted by Impersonation Scam

Mosu Seoul, the restaurant operated by Chef Ahn Sung-jae, has recently filed a police report after falling victim to a scam involving an impersonator posing as a KT employee. On March 21, the restaurant reported the incident to the Yongsan Police Station, seeking action against the perpetrator. On March 23, Mosu Seoul confirmed via their official social media that a crime had occurred where the impersonator redirected calls from customers to their own number, demanding payment for meals.
The scam unfolded when the impersonator, pretending to be a KT employee, called the restaurant claiming that a fire nearby would disrupt communication services. They instructed the restaurant to switch their reservation phone number to a temporary one, which was actually controlled by the scammer. Subsequently, the impersonator answered calls from customers, requesting prepayment for reservations and directing them to deposit money into a specific account.
Mosu Seoul has identified that more than six groups of customers have been affected by this fraudulent scheme.
In related news, Chef Ahn Sung-jae gained fame as a judge on the popular Netflix cooking show, Chef’s Table: BBQ, where he showcased his expertise as the only Michelin 3-star chef in Korea. He recently reopened Mosu Seoul on March 22, offering a dinner course priced at 420,000 KRW, which has garnered significant attention.
