Cha Seung-won Wraps Up 'Three Meals a Day' with Heartfelt Moments and Culinary Delights

Cha Seung-won showcased his culinary skills and charm in the final episode of tvN's 'Three Meals a Day: Light' on November 22. Alongside his long-time friend Yoo Hae-jin, he presented a cooking show concept centered around breakfast, reminiscing about their journey throughout the season.
In front of a studio audience made up of the production team, Cha Seung-won prepared his signature gochujang jjigae (spicy red pepper paste stew), which he had previously left unfinished due to Yoo Hae-jin's 'kimchi toss' incident. He also demonstrated how to make squid sashimi and stir-fried pork, sharing valuable cooking tips with viewers. Reflecting on their experiences, he fondly recalled fishing in Chuja-do and hiking in Jirisan, expressing how much he enjoyed their 'healing three meals life' in the rural areas of Pyeongchang, Chuja-do, and Jirisan.
Having participated in all five seasons of the 'Three Meals a Day' series over the past decade, Cha Seung-won consistently brought new charm and warmth to the show. This season was no exception, as he delivered a delightful mix of flavors and comfort, providing viewers with both joy and relaxation.
Cha Seung-won's culinary prowess was on full display as he prioritized preparing various types of kimchi, including yeolmu kimchi, kkakdugi, and geotjeori, as soon as he arrived at each 'Three Meals House.' He presented a stunning array of dishes, from traditional Korean meals like gochujang jjigae and dakbokkeumtang (spicy chicken stew) to international favorites such as yurinchi (fried chicken in sweet and sour sauce), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), French toast, chop steak, and fish and chips, offering viewers a feast for the eyes.
His effortless cooking style, characterized by swift and confident movements, showcased his charm as a chef. This season, he shed the label of 'small hands' from the previous series and embraced a more generous approach, delighting viewers with hearty portions.
Cha Seung-won's fashion choices in 'Three Meals a Day: Light' also drew attention. He sported a variety of unique outfits, from a stylish 'farming look' for potato harvesting to a chic 'swimming look' featuring a sleeveless shirt and a twilly scarf, a bold 'fishing look' with a striking leopard print shirt, and a dedicated 'chef look' for cooking. His distinctive fashion philosophy created a unique 'Three Meals Lookbook.'
In a humorous moment, he playfully defended his fashion choices against Yoo Hae-jin's teasing, showcasing his strong sense of style and confidence.
Cha Seung-won's warm personality further enhanced the charm of 'Three Meals a Day.' He created a relaxed atmosphere for guests, helping them feel at ease and asking about their food preferences before cooking for them. His affectionate use of the term 'honey' for Yoo Hae-jin and his thoughtful gestures towards the production team left a lasting impression.
Notably, he expressed heartfelt sentiments to guest Kim Nam-gil, leaving a goodbye note that read, 'It was nice to be together,' and offered encouragement to guest Um Tae-goo, who shared his struggles with self-doubt during their time together.
As 'Three Meals a Day: Light' concluded, Cha Seung-won reflected on the season, stating, 'This season was a wonderful experience for both Yoo Hae-jin and me as we traveled to various locations. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 'Three Meals a Day' series, I hope we can continue this journey together. I believe we can return as a complete team next time.'
Fans were left wanting more after this season, as the trio known as 'Cha Yoo Son' (차유손) — Cha Seung-won, Yoo Hae-jin, and Son Ho-jun — was not fully reunited. The 10th anniversary season featured only Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin, leading to rumors about Son Ho-jun's absence. However, PD Na Young-seok clarified that these rumors were unfounded.
The dishes created by Cha Seung-won transcended mere food; they were heartfelt creations infused with care and love. As he continues to share the importance of connection with nature and people through 'Three Meals a Day,' anticipation builds for his next chapter.
