Cha Jun-hwan Reflects on His Experience at the 2025 Harbin Asian Games

On the March 5 episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' figure skating gold medalist Cha Jun-hwan shared his memories from the 2025 Harbin Asian Games. He recounted his struggles with an ankle injury that forced him to take a two-week break from skating, stating, "I had an injury that affected my foot, making it impossible to wear skates. I was determined to try my best, so I trained rigorously on land."
Despite competing with an injury, Cha Jun-hwan participated in the Harbin Asian Games, which drew sympathy from viewers. He reflected on his performance, mentioning a mistake on the triple axel jump that led him to finish second in the short program. "I felt disappointed, but I had practiced hard, so I just went for it," he said. "Even with experience, there’s always a level of tension. It’s crucial to control that."
Cha Jun-hwan noted that the rest of his performance went as he had hoped, minimizing the impact of his earlier mistake. He emphasized the importance of simplifying his approach, focusing on his breathing, and tackling each element one at a time. "Even if mistakes happen, maintaining my breath allows me to follow the flow. That’s why I value the music so much," he explained.
For this season, he chose a song by Imagine Dragons to empower himself, saying, "The lyrics give me strength and ignite a fire within me."
Reflecting on his flawless free skate, he expressed, "I did my absolute best. Rather than feeling like I did well, I felt like I poured everything out. I was already satisfied before the results came in. I gave it my all, so I was okay with any outcome." Host Yoo Jae-suk praised him, saying, "You are very mature."
