Cha Ji-yeon Suffers Breathing Issue During Performance, Cast Change Announced for 'The Last Empress'

Actress Cha Ji-yeon recently took the stage in the musical 'Gwanghwamun Sonata' but had to pause the performance due to a breathing issue. In light of this, the production team for 'The Last Empress' has announced a cast change. They stated, "For those wishing to cancel or request a refund due to the casting change, you can do so without a fee through the customer service of your ticketing provider until 11:59 AM on the day of the performance." They also advised that cancellations made via the website or app would incur a fee, urging patrons to use the customer service for requests within the specified time. The team expressed their apologies for the inconvenience caused by the sudden casting change and wished for Cha Ji-yeon's swift recovery, asking for the audience's understanding.

'The Last Empress' is currently running at the Busan Dream Theater from December 20 to 29. Cha Ji-yeon is scheduled to perform on December 24 and 25, with actress Kim So-hyun stepping in to fill her role during her absence.

On December 22, the production company CJ ENM issued an apology to the audience who attended the 2 PM showing of 'Gwanghwamun Sonata.' They explained that during the first act, Cha Ji-yeon, who plays the role of Wolha, experienced a temporary breathing issue, leading to the performance's interruption. She was promptly taken to the hospital for necessary examinations and is currently resting and recovering.

The company conveyed their sincere apologies for any concern caused to the audience and shared Cha Ji-yeon's message of commitment to return to the stage in better form. They also announced that ticket holders would receive a 110% refund based on the ticket price through a two-step process. They reiterated their wishes for Cha Ji-yeon's quick recovery and expressed gratitude for the audience's patience, promising to deliver even better performances in the future.
