Cha In-pyo Reflects on Life and Philanthropy in JTBC's Newsroom

Actor and writer Cha In-pyo recently shared his thoughts on life and creativity during an appearance on JTBC's Newsroom (뉴스룸) on November 24, 2024. As he embarks on a second career as a novelist, Cha discussed the unique charms of acting and writing, as well as his personal aspirations.

When asked about the differences between acting and writing, Cha explained, "Acting is a tool for an actor to express the directions given by the writer and director. In contrast, writing is a solitary endeavor from start to finish. It is a free yet lonely process." He added, "If one can enjoy solitude, I believe they can become a great creator."

Reflecting on his acting career, which spans over 30 years, Cha expressed his desire to continue participating in quality projects. He mentioned, "I have already filmed some projects and wish to keep acting in suitable supporting roles."

Cha also spoke about his active involvement in social causes, attributing his motivation to his wife, Shin Ae-ra. He stated, "Seeing my wife take the initiative has influenced me. My goal is to leave this world having utilized all that I have. Even if my name is insignificant, I want to live a life where I can contribute my abilities and possessions wherever they are needed."

When asked how he wishes to be remembered by the public, Cha replied, "If I can be remembered as a kind neighbor or a local brother, that would be enough for me. It’s a simple yet heartfelt wish."
