Cha Cheong-hwa Shares Heartwarming Story About Yoo Jae-suk
On the June 11 episode of MBC's Radio Star (라디오스타), actress Cha Cheong-hwa opened up about a touching experience she had with Yoo Jae-suk. She recounted her early days at MBC, recalling how she auditioned in her twenties during a time when sitcoms were gaining popularity. "I was cast, and it felt like a huge opportunity. I practiced hard because it was such a precious chance. At that time, I only had theater experience and thought that was how you acted on screen," she explained.
Cha Cheong-hwa humorously shared a moment of confusion during filming, saying, "They told me to flip it, and I thought something was off. It turned out the camera position had changed." She added that since it was a daily sitcom, she had little time to adjust, and ultimately, she received a notice that she was being let go just as she was heading to the set. "I understand now, but back then, I was really upset," she said, causing laughter with her sudden change in tone.
Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned, "MBC gave me a chance and then notified me of my departure. Right after that, I bought a book on acting techniques and invested in an expensive camera to learn about close-ups. If it weren't for MBC, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Cha also shared that her first award after debuting was from MBC, where she won a supporting actress award in 2023. "At that time, I was three months pregnant. I received blessings alongside my child," she noted, drawing attention.
Kim Gu-ra commented on the rumors that Cha Cheong-hwa received pocket money from Yoo Jae-suk. She responded, "My mom asked if I was really struggling, as if I was receiving monthly allowances from a senior." Cha emphasized, "It's not about the money; it's the thought that counts."
