Famous celebrity couple Cha In-pyo (차인표) and Shin Ae-ra (신애라) have made a generous donation of 100 million won to assist in the recovery efforts from recent wildfires affecting regions such as Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan. The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association announced this contribution on March 29, 2025.
The funds will be utilized for emergency relief, provision of essential goods, and the operation of temporary shelters for residents impacted by the wildfires. In a heartfelt message, the couple expressed, "We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by the wildfires. Although the mountains have burned, hope remains unscathed. You are not alone; stay strong."
As a result of their donation, Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra have been inducted into the 'Hope Bridge Honor Society,' a group of high-value individual donors. They have committed to increasing their involvement in supporting disaster-affected neighbors and promoting a culture of giving.
Shin Hoon, the Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, expressed gratitude for the couple's warm-hearted contribution, stating, "We sincerely thank you for your kindness. Just as you said, 'The mountains have burned, but hope has not,' Hope Bridge will stand by the affected neighbors until they regain their hope."
In addition, Hope Bridge has provided over 450,000 relief items, including emergency kits, temporary shelter partitions, blankets, essential goods, bottled water, and food supplies to the wildfire-affected areas. They are also continuing to support firefighters with meals and conducting laundry relief activities in the impacted regions.
Established in 1961 by various media outlets and social organizations, the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association specializes in disaster relief fundraising. Their main activities include emergency disaster relief, fundraising and distribution of public donations, community recovery post-disaster, and support for vulnerable populations. To date, they have provided 1.6 trillion won in donations and over 60 million relief items.
