The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reported that Latin music revenue in the U.S. reached $1.09 billion in 2022, $1.4 billion in 2023, and is projected to hit $1.42 billion in 2024. Artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G have made significant impacts on the U.S. Billboard charts with their Spanish-language songs.

Gah Jong-hyun, CEO of HYBE Latin America, expressed optimism about discovering and nurturing the next generation of global Latin artists based on HYBE's top-tier production capabilities. He stated that this audition project will enhance HYBE's global business capabilities by strengthening the triangular connection between Asia, English-speaking regions, and Spanish-speaking areas.

To expand its influence in Latin America, HYBE established a local subsidiary in 2023 and strengthened its business foundation by acquiring Exile Music, a company active in recording, music publishing, artist management, and concert planning.

HYBE는 빠르게 성장하는 라틴 아메리카 음악 시장에서의 존재감을 강화하기 위한 일련의 프로젝트를 발표할 예정이다. 이 이니셔티브는 '다중 홈, 다중 장르' 접근 방식을 통해 여러 언어와 장르에 걸쳐 포트폴리오를 다양화하려는 더 넓은 전략의 일환이다.

첫 번째 프로젝트는 'PASE A LA FAMA' (명성의 길)라는 제목의 라틴 밴드 오디션으로, 6월 8일에 첫 방송된다. 밴드 멤버 선발 과정은 NBC유니버설의 스페인어 네트워크인 Telemundo에서 방송될 예정이다. 멕시코, 스페인, 브라질 등 다양한 국가의 참가자들이 경쟁하며, 최종적으로 세 팀이 선정된다. 시청자들은 방송을 통해 참가자들의 여정을 따라갈 수 있는 기회를 갖게 된다.

또한, 라틴 보이 그룹을 형성하기 위한 오디션 프로그램도 곧 공개될 예정이다. 라틴 아메리카와 미국 전역에서 지원자 중 300명이 선정되었으며, 16명의 최종 후보가 멕시코의 캠프에서 집중 훈련을 받을 예정이다.

두 오디션은 공통된 특징을 가지고 있다: 모든 참가자는 멘토십 훈련 프로그램을 받게 된다. 이 이니셔티브는 K-pop 방법론을 적용하여 라틴 음악 장르 내에서 참가자들의 예술적 재능을 극대화하는 것을 목표로 한다.

HYBE가 라틴 시장에 투자하는 이유는 그 놀라운 성장률 때문이다. 국제 음반 산업 연맹(IFPI)에 따르면, 라틴 아메리카 지역은 2024년 이전 해에 비해 22.5% 성장했으며, 이는 15년 연속 성장한 수치이다. 이 수치는 전 세계 평균 성장률인 4.8%를 크게 초과한다. 특히, HYBE 라틴 아메리카가 본사를 두고 있는 멕시코는 최근 세계 10대 음악 시장에 진입했다.
