Can Park Bo-gum Revive 'The Seasons' with His Debut as MC?

On March 14, 2025, KBS2 launched 'The Seasons - Park Bo-gum's Cantabile' (이하 '칸타빌레'), marking Park Bo-gum's debut as a host. He opened the show with a performance of Melomance's 'Shall We Take a Break?' which drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The first guest was composer Noh Young-shim, who played a pivotal role in the inception of KBS's music talk shows with 'Noh Young-shim's Small Concert.' Together, they reminisced about the history of KBS music talk shows and performed 'On My Way to School' by Kim Kwang-min and Yiruma on the piano, showcasing their excellent chemistry. Park Bo-gum was visibly moved while singing 'Photo Album' alongside Noh Young-shim's piano accompaniment.

Next, actors Kim Yoo-jung, Jin-young, and Kwak Dong-yeon, who co-starred with Park Bo-gum in the drama 'Love in the Moonlight' nine years ago, appeared to support his new venture. The four shared fond memories from the drama and participated in the 'Supernova' challenge left by former MC Lee Young-ji. Park Bo-gum expressed his gratitude and affection for his fellow actors, who had prepared a surprise event for him.

The following guest was singer Jung Joon-il, with whom Park Bo-gum engaged in a warm conversation about music. To celebrate the first broadcast, Jung Joon-il performed 'My Person,' the OST from 'Love in the Moonlight,' and Park Bo-gum joined him in a duet, captivating the audience with their beautiful harmonies.

In the final segment, Park Bo-gum showcased his lively chemistry with guests Hoshi and Woozi from SEVENTEEN. He reflected on their long-standing relationship that began during his time as an MC on 'Music Bank' and continued through various award shows. Their playful 'compliment relay' added to the lively atmosphere, demonstrating Park Bo-gum's seasoned hosting skills.

The first episode concluded with Park Bo-gum performing a special serenade, adapting the lyrics of IU's 'Friday' to 'Gyeomyoil' for the audience. He even descended into the crowd to distribute gifts, creating unforgettable memories.

With his adept hosting abilities, bright and warm energy, sweet voice, and deep love for music, Park Bo-gum successfully wrapped up his first episode of '칸타빌레.' He expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, "It was a precious and happy first recording, being able to share this moment with Noh Young-shim and Sunwoo Jung-a, the lovely time with Kim Yoo-jung, Jin-young, and Kwak Dong-yeon, the sweet voice of Jung Joon-il, and the vibrant energy from Hoshi and Woozi, along with the colorful support from Young-ji. Thank you all sincerely!"

'The Seasons' has struggled with low viewership ratings, often dipping to 0%, leading to questions about its relevance. However, with Park Bo-gum stepping in, the first episode recorded a viewership rating of 1.5% (Nielsen Korea nationwide), raising hopes that he may be the savior the show needs.
