BTS's Suga's Philanthropy Inspires ARMY to Donate

On June 24, 2025, Severance Hospital announced that donations for the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' had surpassed 200 million KRW, following the groundbreaking ceremony held by Suga (민윤기) of BTS (방탄소년단) on June 23. Suga has made a significant contribution of 5 billion KRW to establish this specialized treatment center for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, marking the largest donation from an artist in the history of Yonsei Medical Center and the highest single donation by a celebrity in South Korea.
Beyond his financial support, Suga has actively participated in developing a music therapy program over the past seven months with Professor Cheon Geun-ah, a leading expert in child psychiatry. He has also volunteered his time on weekends to teach children how to play musical instruments, further showcasing his commitment to this cause.
Suga's history of philanthropy includes donations of 100 million KRW to a pediatric cancer foundation in 2019, 100 million KRW for COVID-19 relief in 2020, 100 million KRW for pediatric cancer treatment at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital in 2021, 100 million KRW for wildfire recovery in 2022, and 100 million KRW for earthquake relief efforts in Turkey in 2023.
In response to Suga's heartfelt initiatives, ARMY, BTS's official fan club, has launched a donation relay on social media. They have reached out to Yonsei Medical Center for donation inquiries, leading to the establishment of a permanent sponsorship section for the Min Yoongi Treatment Center. Within just 6 hours and 30 minutes of its opening, ARMY had already contributed 100 million KRW, and within a day, the total exceeded 200 million KRW. The hospital plans to open a remittance channel for international fans, which is expected to increase the total donations significantly.
The Min Yoongi Treatment Center is set to be completed by September. With Suga's recent discharge from military service on June 21, all BTS members have now completed their military duties and are preparing for a full group comeback in the latter half of the year.
