BTS's Suga's Philanthropic Efforts Inspire ARMY to Donate

On June 24, 2025, Severance Hospital announced that donations for the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' have surpassed 200 million KRW, following the groundbreaking ceremony held by Suga (민윤기) of BTS (방탄소년단) on June 23. The center is dedicated to providing specialized treatment for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. Suga made a significant contribution of 5 billion KRW for the establishment and treatment initiatives at the center, marking the largest donation from an artist to Yonsei Medical Center and the highest single donation in South Korea's entertainment history.

Beyond his financial support, Suga has actively participated in developing a music therapy program over the past seven months with Professor Cheon Geun-ah, a leading expert in child psychiatry. He has also volunteered his time on weekends to teach children how to play musical instruments, further showcasing his commitment to this cause.

Suga's history of philanthropy includes donations of 100 million KRW to a pediatric cancer foundation in 2019, 100 million KRW for COVID-19 recovery efforts in 2020, and similar amounts for various causes in subsequent years, including disaster relief efforts in Turkey and for wildfire recovery.

In response to Suga's heartfelt initiatives, ARMY, BTS's official fan club, has launched a donation relay on social media. They have reached out to Yonsei Medical Center for donation inquiries, leading to the establishment of a permanent sponsorship section for the Min Yoongi Treatment Center. Within just 6 hours and 30 minutes of its opening, ARMY had already contributed 100 million KRW, and within a day, the total exceeded 200 million KRW. The hospital plans to open a remittance channel for international fans, which is expected to increase the total donations significantly.

The Min Yoongi Treatment Center is set to be completed by September. With Suga's recent discharge from military service on June 21, all BTS members have now completed their military duties, and they are preparing for a full group comeback in the second half of the year.
