BTS's RM Shares Lunar New Year Greetings Ahead of Military Discharge

As he approaches his military discharge in just four months, RM of BTS (방탄소년단) took to the official fan community Weverse on February 1 to share heartfelt Lunar New Year greetings with fans. Reflecting on his time in the military, he humorously remarked, "I can't believe I've already turned 32 in Korean age. Looking at myself insisting I'm 30 in international age, I realize I've become an uncle now."

He announced, "I, Kim Namjoon, have finally become a sergeant!" expressing pride in his rank, noting that all four members who enlisted together have likely been promoted early. "It's a bit of a relief, but it feels like my military life is just beginning. The next rank is civilian, and that makes me really happy. Being a sergeant is great!"

RM reminisced about the early days of his service, recalling how instructors and seniors at boot camp would say, "Will 2025 ever come?" and how he now finds it hard to believe that time has passed. "It feels like I've been here for over two years already," he added.

He reflected on the overwhelming year of 2024, stating, "It will be memorable, whether good or bad. How was it for you? I feel both envious and relieved to see two of my members out here supporting each other. Being a civilian is the best!"

Looking forward to his return as Kim Namjoon, he expressed a desire to share many stories that he can't discuss right now, hinting at future revelations. "I often think about it when I can't sleep at night. June 10 will come, and I will definitely smile then!"

As February begins, RM noted, "There are only about four months left. March will mark 100 days until my discharge. As always, I’m working out, playing instruments, studying, and preparing to return. I hope you all stay healthy. I'm managing just fine, so don’t worry too much about me!"

Currently, RM is serving in the Army's 15th Infantry Division Band in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, having enlisted in December 2023 alongside fellow member V (뷔). His discharge date is set for June 10, 2025.
