BTS's Jungkook Donates 1 Billion Won for Wildfire Relief Efforts
Jungkook (정국), a member of the globally renowned group BTS (방탄소년단), has made a significant contribution of 1 billion won to support victims of recent wildfires in South Korea. This donation marks the highest individual contribution from a celebrity related to the wildfire crisis, surpassing the previous team donation of 1 billion won from the group Seventeen (세븐틴). On March 28, the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association announced that Jungkook's donation will aid those affected in the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions.
Out of the total donation, 500 million won will be allocated for emergency support and relief supplies for those who have lost their homes due to the wildfires. The remaining 500 million won is intended for initiatives aimed at improving the recognition and treatment of firefighters who are dedicated to battling such disasters.
Jungkook expressed his hope that his contribution would provide some relief to those enduring difficult times, stating, "I wish for everyone affected by this wildfire and those working tirelessly to extinguish the flames to quickly regain their peaceful daily lives."
Shin Hoon, the Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, expressed gratitude for Jungkook's generous act, emphasizing that his heartfelt gesture would serve as a great comfort to the affected residents. Hope Bridge is committed to maximizing its support efforts on the ground.
In 2023, Jungkook also donated 1 billion won to the Seoul National University Children's Hospital to assist with medical expenses for children from low-income families and support integrated care center initiatives. His recent donation matches the contributions made by major corporations such as Hanwha Group, Lotte Group, and Naver in response to the wildfire crisis.
Currently serving in the military, Jungkook is set to be discharged on June 11, 2025.
