BTS Sets New Record with 'Dynamite' Reaching 2 Billion Streams on Spotify

BTS (방탄소년단) has made history once again as the first K-pop group to achieve a remarkable milestone. Their digital single 'Dynamite,' released on August 21, 2020, has surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify, according to the latest data from January 12, 2025. This makes BTS the first K-pop group to reach this impressive number for a single track on the platform.
'Dynamite' was also the first song by a Korean artist to debut at number one on Spotify's 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart and recorded the highest number of streams on its release day. It was the first K-pop song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify as well.
With 'Dynamite,' BTS has rewritten the history of Korean pop music. They became the first Korean artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hold the record for the longest duration at number one among K-pop artists. Notably, they were also the first Korean pop artists to be nominated for a Grammy Award, drawing global attention. Additionally, they became the first overseas artists to exceed 800 million streams for a single track on Japan's Oricon chart.
The song, characterized by its upbeat disco pop genre, features an infectious rhythm and dynamic performances that have continued to resonate with fans even four years after its release. At the end of last year, 'Dynamite' was included in UPROXX's list of 'The 100 Best Hit Songs Of The Century So Far.' The music video has also achieved significant success, surpassing 1.9 billion views on YouTube, making it one of the most viewed BTS videos to date.
