BTS Members RM and V Share Their Military Discharge Reflections

On June 10, 2025, RM and V of BTS (방탄소년단) completed their military service, which lasted for one year and seven months. They held a live broadcast on the fan communication platform Weverse to share their thoughts on returning to civilian life.

RM expressed that his military experience felt reminiscent of being a trainee again. He recalled moving into a dormitory in Nonhyeon-dong at the age of 17, living with 30 others, and how returning to that environment at 30 brought back those feelings. He noted that while he had not faced much discipline before enlisting, he quickly learned the importance of humility and starting anew in the military. "It made me realize that while we were enjoying our lives in society, others were serving in the military," he reflected.

He also shared a personal moment from his final leave, where he spent two weeks managing his fitness and, after a late-night conversation with his juniors, found himself in tears around 2 AM. "I felt all the emotions of being human yesterday," he joked.

V mentioned that he had shed some tears when his seniors were discharged but remained composed during his own discharge. He expressed his support for the dreams of his juniors, having lived with them for a year and a half. Despite the challenges, he cherished the new friendships and stories he encountered during his service. He felt empowered by the support from ARMY (BTS's fan club), stating, "It gave me great strength to know that our fans were thinking of us."

The two also celebrated the discharge of their fellow member Jin, who was the first to complete his service. Jin encouraged them, saying, "Let’s work hard together. I believe in you." V responded, "Now we can work hard and sleep well."

RM also shared plans for BTS's future activities, stating, "I can’t guarantee immediate results, but we have a plan. Please wait for us. Our last performance was in October 2022, and it’s been almost three years since we took a break from creating. We’ve recharged and are excited to show you new and fun things. We will make sure everyone knows we are back."

Following RM and V, Jungkook (정국) and Jimin (지민) are set to be discharged on June 11, while Suga (슈가), who is serving as a social service agent, will be released on June 21.
