BTS Members RM and V Complete Military Service, Promise to Return to the Stage Soon
On June 10, 2025, RM and V of BTS (방탄소년단) announced their return from military service, expressing eagerness to get back on stage. The duo completed their 1 year and 6 months of service, having enlisted in December 2023. RM served in the Army's 15th Infantry Division as part of the military band, while V was with the 802nd Military Police Battalion of the 2nd Army Corps.
After finishing their discharge procedures at the base, RM and V met with fans and media at a soccer field in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, without any formal event. Fans gathered early in the morning to celebrate their return, and when the two appeared, they were greeted with loud cheers. RM even entertained the crowd with a saxophone performance.
The two embraced and saluted as they announced their discharge. RM shared his thoughts, stating, "Finally, we are discharged. Our military service was short, and conditions have improved a lot. Honestly, there were many tough and painful moments, but we felt that many people protected the country in our place while we were active."
He continued, "During our time, many people fought for the country both at the front and in the rear, which allowed us to be active. I also got closer to my father and friends, and it was a meaningful time to bond with fellow servicemen. I worry about those who are still serving and hope they stay healthy and return safely to society. Thank you to our ARMY for waiting for us. I will return as BTS's RM and strive to shine. Thank you to everyone who took care of us and waited."
V echoed RM's sentiments, saying, "Coming to the military made me reflect on my body and mind. I rebuilt myself and can't wait to run to ARMY. I sincerely thank the fans who waited for us."
He added, "If you wait just a little longer, we will return with an amazing performance. As Sergeant Kim Namjoon mentioned, there are still many officers and soldiers in our unit who took great care of me. I hope they complete their training safely and return without injury. I will work hard to become a good and impressive person in society."
When asked what they wanted to do after discharge, both RM and V agreed that they were most eager to return to the stage. "We want to perform again. We will work hard to create an album and come back to the stage soon," they said.
RM humorously added, "I will stop returning to the base and focus on returning to the stage," and promised to greet fans again as BTS's RM and V.
Meanwhile, Jungkook (정국) and Jimin (지민) are set to complete their military service on June 11, bringing BTS closer to reuniting as a full group.
