BTS Members Jungkook and Jimin Celebrate Their Military Discharge

On June 11, 2025, Jungkook (정국) and Jimin (지민) of BTS (방탄소년단) joyfully announced their military discharge after completing their service. The duo enlisted together in December 2023 and served in the Army's 5th Division Artillery Brigade.

Following their discharge ceremony, they headed to the HYBE headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul, where they held a live broadcast. Hundreds of ARMY (BTS's official fan club) gathered outside to celebrate their return.

Jungkook expressed his mixed emotions, saying, "I feel a bit dazed. It doesn't feel real that I'm discharged. I've learned the value of time, and it was a valuable experience." He recalled the worries he had before enlisting and the struggles during training, sharing, "There were times when it felt like a week lasted a month. We often lay in our dorm, wondering why time was moving so slowly, and we shared many thoughts about our future music and practice. We leaned on each other during those times."

He added, "We’ve been on pause for a year and a half, so we’re ready to pick up the pace."

Jimin shared his own feelings about military service, stating, "I knew I had to go, but I didn’t want to. It was a duty, but it wasn’t easy. The military is a place where negative words are often spoken. I wanted to enlist with Jungkook, but who knew we would end up at the front lines? Everyone looked at us with pity."

He expressed gratitude to the fans, saying, "Thank you to the ARMY for waiting for us. During my service, I had a drink with the members during our leave. I was surprised to see V (뷔) had gained weight, but when I saw him yesterday at the discharge, he was back to his original shape. I also gained 10 kg during my service, but I’m on a diet now and it won’t take long to get back in shape."

Both members expressed their eagerness to reunite with their fans, stating, "We missed the ARMY so much. We’re so happy to be back together. We promise to show you our best selves soon. We won’t disappear again and will create great music to share with you."

BTS has seen several members return from military service, with Jin (진) and J-Hope (제이홉) discharged last year, and RM (알엠) and V (뷔) returning on June 10. Suga (슈가), who is serving as a social service worker, will be discharged on June 21.
