BTS Dominates Global Year-End Charts with Solo and Group Releases

BTS (방탄소년단) has made a significant impact on the global year-end charts for 2024. On December 6, Spotify released its 'Weekly Top Songs Global' chart, where Jin's (진) first solo album 'Happy' saw its title track 'Running Wild' debut at number 20, marking its third consecutive week on the chart. The pre-released track 'I’ll Be There' also made an appearance at number 150, maintaining its position for six weeks. Additionally, 'Happy - :D (Remixes)' landed at number 24 on the 'Weekly Top Albums Global' chart.

V's (뷔) digital single 'Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)', released on November 29, entered the 'Weekly Top Songs Global' at number 29. His previous solo album 'Layover', released in September last year, continues to show longevity with the track 'Love Me Again' at number 112, marking its 69th week on the chart. Jimin's (지민) second solo album 'MUSE' features the title track 'Who', which ranked 9th, achieving 20 weeks on the chart. Jungkook's (정국) first solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' remains popular at number 89, holding its place for 73 weeks. Jimin's 'MUSE' and Jungkook's solo album 'GOLDEN' secured positions at 15th and 49th, respectively, on the 'Weekly Top Albums Global' chart.

BTS's influence is also evident in various year-end charts. 'Happy', released on November 15, quickly climbed to the top ranks of Billboard Japan's 2024 year-end chart for 'Hot Albums' at number 19, despite only 10 days of tracking. The album also reached number 20 in 'Top Album Sales' and number 33 in 'Download Albums'.

All solo albums released by BTS members this year have made it onto Billboard Japan's year-end chart for 'Download Albums', a remarkable achievement. Jin's 'Happy', Jimin's 'MUSE', RM's (알엠) second solo album 'Right Place, Wrong Person', and J-Hope's (제이홉) special album 'HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1' all charted. Jungkook's 'GOLDEN', released last year, also made the list, showcasing its enduring popularity. 'MUSE' ranked 41st in 'Hot Albums'.

Jungkook's 'Seven (feat. Latto)' has also made its mark on the annual charts, demonstrating its global hit potential. Despite being released in July last year, it secured the 39th spot on Billboard Japan's 'Hot 100' year-end chart. On December 4, Apple Music revealed its year-end chart '2024 Top 100: Global', where 'Seven' ranked 41st.

RM's 'Right Place, Wrong Person' was recognized by the British music magazine NME as one of the '50 Best Albums of 2024', achieving the highest rank among K-pop artists at number 16. NME praised RM's second solo album as one of the most innovative releases of the year, highlighting his exploration of various genres such as jazz, indie, and hip-hop, while finding his unique sound.
