Brown Eyed Girls' Gain Announces Comeback After Prolonged Absence

Gain, a member of the popular girl group Brown Eyed Girls, has officially announced her return to the entertainment scene after a five-year hiatus due to the propofol controversy. On April 11, she shared her current situation in a video titled 'Im Seulong's Girlsongtop | Episode 4: Gain's Stories of Laughter and Tears' on Im Seulong's personal channel.

In the video, Gain opened up about her struggles, stating, "I went through some incidents that affected me mentally and physically. I spent a lot of time at home dealing with depression, insomnia, and panic disorder."

In 2019, Gain was fined 1 million won for using propofol at a location in Gyeonggi Province between July and August. Her agency explained that she made an unwise choice due to severe stress, depression, and sleep disorders. Following the incident, Gain took a long break from all activities to reflect on her actions. She made her first public appearance in four years on KFN Radio's 'Miryo's Freestyle' last year but remained silent afterward. This recent video marks the first time she has shared her honest feelings since the propofol incident.

Gain recounted how her mother encouraged her to work at a store during her slump, despite her reluctance due to negative press. "I initially resisted, but after working for a couple of days, I found myself exhausted and fell asleep. Eventually, my mom entrusted the store to me and stopped coming. I worked from 3 or 4 PM until midnight," she revealed.

She expressed gratitude for her mother's support, saying, "If it weren't for her guidance, I don't know where I would be now. I want to repay her for everything she has done for me. I feel like I neglected the human side of Gain while focusing on my celebrity persona. I will take better care of myself moving forward," she said, shedding tears.

Following her heartfelt announcement, Gain received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists. Jo Kwon, her co-star from MBC's 'We Got Married,' sent her encouragement, saying, "I’ll be waiting for you, my love!" Members of Brown Eyed Girls also expressed their support. JeA commented, "I felt emotional watching our youngest member grow up. I can’t wait to see Gain on stage again!" Miryo added, "I was moved too. Please support and love Gain!" Narsha shared a link to the video, saying, "I’m going to see Gain in action!"
