BoA and Key to Host Special K-POP Documentary on SM Entertainment's 30-Year Journey

On January 28, 2025, at 6 PM, SBS will air the first part of a special program titled K-POP 더 비기닝: SMTOWN 30 (K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30), celebrating the 30-year history of SM Entertainment. This highly anticipated broadcast will feature the first-ever airing of performances from the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 'THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE' concert, which took place on January 11 and 12 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, drawing significant attention from K-pop fans worldwide.

The program will be hosted by the iconic singer BoA, often referred to as the eternal star of Asia, alongside Key from the popular group SHINee, known for his engaging performances and appearances on various entertainment shows. Their chemistry as senior and junior artists is expected to enhance the viewing experience.

The first part of the special will reflect on SM Entertainment's journey over the past three decades, starting with the debut story of H.O.T., a group that became a teenage idol and marked the beginning of K-pop culture. Kangta, a member of H.O.T. and currently an executive at SM, will share anecdotes about the overwhelming popularity of the group, including a memorable episode about selling H.O.T. merchandise at a stationery store.

The program will also highlight other legendary SM artists, including the beloved girl group S.E.S., the pioneering group Shinhwa, the 'Asian Star' BoA, the forever idol TVXQ, the group that ushered in the era of multi-member idols, Super Junior, and the legendary girl group Girls' Generation. Their contributions to K-pop history and behind-the-scenes stories will be unveiled.

Additionally, the special will showcase unprecedented collaboration stages from the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 concert, featuring a dreamy performance by S.E.S.'s Bada alongside aespa's Karina and Winter, as well as a special stage prepared by H.O.T.'s Kangta and Tony An with NCT DREAM.
