BLACKPINK Kicks Off World Tour with New Song 'Run' in Goyang

On July 5 and 6, BLACKPINK made a triumphant return after 2 years and 8 months, unveiling their new song 'Run' at the Goyang Sports Complex in South Korea. The event attracted approximately 78,000 fans over two days, marking the beginning of their world tour that will take them to 16 cities including Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and London.

As the members—Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé, and Jennie—emerged on stage amidst a spectacular display of fireworks, the crowd erupted in cheers. The atmosphere was electric as the fans, known as Blink, waved their pink 'Bongbong' light sticks in unison. The excitement peaked during the performance of 'Run,' with the lyrics 'BLACKPINK in your area' igniting a wave of enthusiasm throughout the venue.

This concert also served as the launch of BLACKPINK's first world tour, 'DEADLINE,' following their re-signing with YG Entertainment. Although there were concerns about the group's future activities due to individual contracts, the members reassured fans with their collective greeting, 'Hello, we are BLACKPINK,' which was met with thunderous applause.

The setlist featured a mix of their greatest hits and solo performances, starting with the group anthem 'Kill This Love.' Over the course of 2 hours and 15 minutes, they performed 27 songs, including chart-toppers like 'DDU-DU DDU-DU,' 'Whistle,' 'Boombayah,' and 'Pink Venom,' which made history as the first K-pop girl group song to reach number one on the Spotify Global Chart.

The solo stages showcased the members' growth, with Jisoo's 'Earthquake,' Lisa's 'Rockstar,' and Jennie's 'Like JENNIE' highlighting their improved live performances. Despite minor technical issues, the audience remained engaged, especially when Rosé's collaboration with Bruno Mars, 'APT.,' played, transforming the venue into a massive sing-along.

The audience demographics revealed a significant female presence (61.6%) and a majority of attendees in their 20s and 30s (71.5%). Tickets were in high demand, leading to sold-out shows, including limited-view seats priced at 99,000 won. The tour has sparked a ticketing frenzy globally, with campaigns against scalping and reports of a major ticket fraud incident in Hong Kong.

Following this concert, BLACKPINK will continue their tour across cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Milan, Barcelona, Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bulacan, Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, totaling 31 performances in 16 cities.
