BLACKPINK and YG Entertainment Partner for Sustainable 'DEADLINE' Tour

YG Entertainment has announced a collaboration with BLACKPINK for their upcoming 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR 'DEADLINE'' to promote sustainable performances. On July 4, the company revealed that they have signed an agreement to purchase Peace Renewable Energy Certificates (P-REC) from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency.

P-REC serves as an international certification for renewable energy produced in conflict zones. Through this partnership, YG and BLACKPINK will offset a portion of the energy consumption from the 'DEADLINE' tour by purchasing P-REC. The total amount spent on these certificates will be reinvested in South Sudan, where the energy is produced, to support humanitarian efforts and provide power to higher education institutions in need of reconstruction due to civil war.

This initiative marks the first transaction of its kind in South Korea, going beyond mere certification of renewable energy purchases to positively impact energy accessibility and job creation in the region. Given BLACKPINK's global fanbase, this effort reflects their commitment to social responsibility and giving back to their supporters.

Additionally, during the 'DEADLINE' performances in Goyang on July 5 and 6, YG Entertainment will introduce 'BLACKPINK Water,' a paper-packaged water that reduces environmental impact. They will set up dedicated recycling bins for the paper packs and operate booths to raise awareness about waste separation and resource recycling. Customized recycling bins resembling BLACKPINK will be offered as rewards, with a portion of the sales proceeds donated to resource circulation initiatives.

The tour will also feature the 'YOUR GREEN STEP' booth, which encourages concertgoers to engage in environmental responsibility by tracking their carbon footprint, and a booth from the British Embassy in Korea that highlights their ongoing climate change efforts in collaboration with BLACKPINK since 2020.

YG Entertainment has emphasized its commitment to sustainable performances through its 'Sustainable Performance Report' published in 2024, outlining seven principles for sustainability, including greenhouse gas management and enhancing performance accessibility. The 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR' will span 16 cities and 31 shows, continuing to raise public awareness about sustainable performances through pre-show videos.
