Big Hit Music Appoints Shin Seon-jung as New CEO

Big Hit Music has officially announced the appointment of Shin Seon-jung as its new CEO on November 26, 2024.

Shin Seon-jung has been with the company since 2010, when it was still known as Big Hit Entertainment, and has played a significant role in the rise of the globally renowned group BTS (방탄소년단). In her previous roles, including as the head of HYBE's Training & Development (T&D) division, she was instrumental in refining the trainee selection and education programs tailored to the unique characteristics of each label under HYBE. Artists who have debuted through the T&D program include BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (투모로우바이투게더), ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and &TEAM.

Recognized for her contributions, Shin was named in the '2022 Billboard 40 Under 40', which highlights young leaders under 40 in the global music industry, and she also received recognition in the 'MULTI SECTOR' category of the '2023 Billboard Women in Music', which honors influential women in the music industry.

With Shin's leadership, Big Hit Music is expected to enhance its sustainable growth and strengthen its competitiveness in the global music market. She aims to stabilize and advance the label's operational systems while also expanding into new business areas, leveraging her extensive experience and expertise in the industry.

Meanwhile, Shin Young-jae, who has led Big Hit Music for the past four years, will now focus on his role as the inaugural head of HYBE MUSIC GROUP APAC, overseeing the multi-label operations in South Korea and Japan. This new division was established in August as part of HYBE's growth strategy, 'HYBE 2.0', and will concentrate on enhancing strategies and processes necessary for label growth and innovation, as well as resource investment and the advancement of music service functions.
