Baek Jong-won Takes Action to Support Wildfire Victims

Baek Jong-won, the CEO of The Born Korea, has recently made headlines for his charitable efforts to assist victims of the recent wildfires in South Korea. On March 26, he donated 100 million KRW to support those affected by the devastating fires in the Yeongnam region, as confirmed by the Community Chest of Korea on March 27.
In his statement, Baek expressed his hope that his contribution would provide some relief to those who have lost their homes due to the wildfires. He also extended his wishes for the safety of all firefighters and volunteers working on the front lines.
On March 28, it was reported that Baek personally visited Andong City to provide warm meals to the wildfire victims. After learning about the situation, he quickly organized a team of staff members to assist in the relief efforts.
Additionally, The Born Korea, under Baek's leadership, has been preparing over 300 meals daily for not only the victims but also for military, police, and firefighting personnel involved in the firefighting operations. For those unable to access free meal services due to their duties, the company has been delivering meals directly to them. Baek has also been seen cooking and serving meals on-site, offering comfort to the victims. His proactive approach has garnered significant attention and admiration.
Furthermore, Baek Jong-won became the 2,409th member of the Honor Society, a group of major donors to the Community Chest of Korea, in September 2020. His recent contributions have elevated him to the status of a Gold Member of the Honor Society, having donated a total of 500 million KRW.
The wildfires, which began on March 21, have been described as the worst in history, surpassing the damage caused by the infamous 2000 East Coast wildfires. As of now, there have been 26 reported fatalities and over 36,000 displaced individuals. The Community Chest of Korea is conducting a special fundraising campaign to support wildfire victims until April 30.
