Baek Jong-won Donates 100 Million Won for Wildfire Relief

Baek Jong-won, the CEO of The Born Korea (㈜더본코리아), has made a generous donation of 100 million won to support victims of the recent wildfires in the Yeongnam region. The Community Chest of Korea (사랑의열매 사회복지공동모금회), led by Chairman Kim Byung-jun, announced the contribution on March 27, stating that Baek made the donation on March 26 to assist those affected by the devastating fires.
In his statement, Baek expressed his hope that his contribution would provide some relief to those who have lost their homes due to the wildfires. He also extended his wishes for the safety of all firefighters and volunteers working on the front lines.
Chairman Kim Byung-jun thanked Baek for his continuous commitment to philanthropy and expressed hopes for a swift containment of the fires without further loss of life. He assured that the Community Chest of Korea would do its utmost to help restore the daily lives of the affected individuals.
Baek Jong-won became the 2,409th member of the Honor Society, a group of major donors to the Community Chest of Korea, in September 2020. With this latest donation, he has now become the first Gold Member of the Honor Society in 2025, having contributed a total of 500 million won.
The wildfires, which began on March 21, have been recorded as one of the worst in history, surpassing the damage caused by the infamous 2000 East Coast wildfires. As of now, there have been 26 reported fatalities and over 36,000 individuals displaced. The Community Chest of Korea is conducting a special fundraising campaign for wildfire relief until April 30.
