Baek Ji-young Shares Emotional Call with Um Jung-hwa After Marriage

Singer Baek Ji-young recently revealed the heartfelt story behind her phone call to senior artist Um Jung-hwa after her marriage. In a video uploaded on December 22 to the YouTube channel 'Umaizing 엄정화TV', titled 'The Reason Baek Ji-young Called Um Jung-hwa and Their Tears', Baek Ji-young recounted how she was inspired by Um Jung-hwa's activities. She said, 'I found it so impressive that I mustered the courage to call her. It was shortly after my wedding, and she had just started her activities again.' Baek Ji-young shared that she was moved to tears while watching Um Jung-hwa on TV, and after some effort, she managed to find her phone number. The two ended up crying during their unexpected conversation, reminiscing about the past 11 years.

Um Jung-hwa confirmed Baek Ji-young's sentiments, saying, 'At that time, we really understood each other's feelings. That call gave us strength, and we cried together.' Baek Ji-young expressed her gratitude for Um Jung-hwa's presence in her life, stating, 'I was so thankful for her existence.'

Um Jung-hwa also opened up about the struggles they face in the industry, saying, 'There are moments when we love this work so much, yet feel unable to continue, losing confidence and feeling like our time has passed. I often wondered if I could still sing or if making an album was embarrassing.' She expressed her frustration about the challenges of aging and the fear of not being able to perform.

Baek Ji-young reflected on how that call and Um Jung-hwa's performances provided her with immense support, helping her navigate her own challenges without getting overly emotional. She remarked, 'You left clear footprints on the untouched snow, allowing me to follow without getting buried. I realized that just being there for someone can be so powerful. I learned that I should also reach out to my juniors instead of just sending messages.'
