Bae Doona Shares Affectionate Insights on Working with Ryu Seung-beom in 'Family Plan'

On November 26, 2024, actress Bae Doona discussed her experience working alongside Ryu Seung-beom in their new series, 'Family Plan' (가족계획), during a press conference held at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon. The event was hosted by Park Kyung-rim and featured the cast, including Bae Doona, Ryu Seung-beom, Baek Yoon-sik, Roman, Lee Soo-hyun, and creator Kim Jung-min.

'Family Plan' is a Coupang Play series that tells the story of a mother with the extraordinary ability to edit memories, who teams up with her family to take down villains. Bae Doona plays the role of Han Young-soo, a caring mother with a special power, while Ryu Seung-beom portrays Baek Cheol-hee, a loving but somewhat timid father.

Reflecting on her role as a mother, Bae Doona shared, "I actually started playing mother roles at the age of 22. I played a single mother back then and have portrayed mothers since my youth. However, this is the first time I’ve played a mother of grown children. During the first shoot, when the kids called me 'Mom,' I was genuinely surprised. I thought, 'Why is this big kid calling me Mom?' It was quite a shock!" she laughed.

Regarding her on-screen chemistry with Ryu Seung-beom, she expressed, "It was wonderful. It felt like we were friends. Although his character is caring in the show, he is also genuinely kind and a healing presence in real life. The atmosphere on set improved significantly because of him, and I received a lot of support from him."

Ryu Seung-beom reciprocated her sentiments, stating, "Working with Bae Doona was fantastic. It felt very comfortable. There’s something charming and lovable about her that draws you in, making it easy to portray a married couple naturally."

The warm exchange between the two actors highlighted their strong rapport, promising an engaging viewing experience for audiences.
