Bae Doona Apologizes to Senior Actress Shim Eun-ha on Salon Drip 2

In a recent episode of Salon Drip 2 (살롱드립2), Bae Doona (배두나) publicly apologized to her senior, Shim Eun-ha (심은하). The episode, hosted by Jang Do-yeon (장도연), aired on December 10, 2024, and featured the title 'What is this sister really (positive) | EP.69 Bae Doona.'

During the show, Jang Do-yeon mentioned the excitement among the production team regarding Bae Doona's appearance, highlighting her timeless beauty that remains unchanged since her debut. She also brought up a book Bae Doona published in 2004, which included photos and essays from her time in London. Reflecting on the book, Bae Doona expressed her surprise, stating, 'It was a book that almost didn’t get published, but it became a bestseller at that time.' She added, 'It was a fun project, and many photo essay books have come out since then, which was rewarding despite the challenges.'

Bae Doona also shared her desire to learn how to write scripts, noting that one minute of script equates to one page of a screenplay. She humorously mentioned that her imagination is more active than others, which contributes to her ability to choose scripts. When asked about her recent work, Family Planning (가족계획), she remarked that it turned out to be much stronger than she had initially imagined.

Known for her extensive connections in the industry, Bae Doona humbly acknowledged the many people who support her. When asked about her favorite actress, she revealed that she was a huge fan of Shim Eun-ha during her youth, saying, 'She was the first and last actress I ever truly admired.' Bae Doona reminisced about being a shy fan who collected clippings of Shim Eun-ha since middle school.

Shim Eun-ha remains a legendary figure in the industry, known for her roles in dramas like Last Match (마지막 승부) and films such as August's Christmas (8월의 크리스마스). After her marriage, she retired from the entertainment industry in 2001.

When asked if she had ever met Shim Eun-ha, Bae Doona recounted her experience at the Daejong Film Awards, where she was nominated for Best New Actress. She recalled sitting next to Shim Eun-ha, feeling her heart race and unable to express her admiration. Bae Doona humorously shared that when Shim Eun-ha noticed her staring, she asked, 'Why?' to which Bae Doona awkwardly replied, 'Nothing,' leading to her feeling embarrassed. She concluded with a light-hearted apology to her senior, saying, 'I’m so sorry for staring, senior!'
