Baby V.O.X's Lee Hee-jin Opens Up About Past Struggles

On January 25, the MBC variety show 전지적 참견 시점 (The Manager) revealed the behind-the-scenes story of the iconic first-generation girl group, Baby V.O.X. Host Jeon Hyun-moo noted that Baby V.O.X debuted before other notable groups like S.E.S and Fin.K.L. Kim I-ji shared that the group made their debut on July 3, 1997, marking their 28th anniversary this year.

The group recently made headlines for their flawless reunion performance at the KBS 2TV '2024 Gayo Daechukje' festival. Member Kan Mi-yeon expressed her excitement, stating, "It was our first full group stage in 14 years since we gathered for solo activities in 2010," adding that she has been wearing makeup ever since due to how beautiful they looked on stage.

To show appreciation to their loyal fans, the members filmed a performance video and reminisced over dinner. They revealed that during their peak, they had an astonishing 13 schedules in a single day, questioning why they participated in such demanding variety shows that included bungee jumping and tightrope walking.

The discussion also touched on past rumors of discord among the members, which they attributed to the use of formal language, a practice encouraged by their agency's CEO. They clarified that they still communicate openly, even if they use polite forms of speech.

In an emotional moment, Kim I-ji shared that Lee Hee-jin had struggled with depression and social anxiety a few years ago, leading to significant weight loss. Lee Hee-jin tearfully recounted her experiences of being hurt by others, expressing gratitude for her members' support that helped her reach this point in her life.
