Baby V.O.X Tops Reunion Wish List on '20th Century Hit Song'

On December 27, 2024, KBS Joy's '20th Century Hit Song' featured Baby V.O.X, who claimed the top spot for the most desired reunion. Members Kim I-ji (김이지) and Lee Hee-jin (이희진) appeared as guests on the year-end special titled 'Come Back, Would You? Hope for Idol Comebacks'.

As Kim I-ji and Lee Hee-jin made their entrance, host Kim Hee-chul (김희철) visibly blushed and widened his eyes, especially since he is a huge fan of Kim I-ji. While shaking hands with Lee Hee-jin, he couldn't help but steal glances at Kim I-ji. She remarked, "I knew because people around me told me," while Kim Hee-chul could only gaze ahead, too shy to look directly at her, his ears turning bright red, which drew laughter from the audience.

Baby V.O.X recently performed as a full group at the '2024 Gayo Daechukje Global Festival'. During the show, Kim I-ji and Lee Hee-jin reminisced about their past activities while watching clips of other groups from their era. When asked about their romantic experiences back then, they shared, "We communicated through notes. We would ask our manager or stylist for help, and sometimes we would leave notes under flower pots. Our agency confiscated our phones, making those relationships even more bittersweet."

In the rankings for 'Hope for Idol Comebacks', Milk, featuring actors Seo Hyun-jin (서현진) and Park Hee-bon (박희본), placed ninth. Although they were a promising group known for their pure charm, they disbanded after member Bae Yu-mi (배유미) left and due to issues with their agency, leaving them as a legend in K-pop history. Other short-lived yet promising groups mentioned included O2P and Circle. Kim Hee-chul noted that Milk was often compared to S.E.S due to their innocent image, while Lee Mi-joo (이미주) added that their visuals and group name were a perfect match. Baby V.O.X also recalled their innocent concept, stating, "We wore pink outfits during 'Ya Ya Ya'," with Kim I-ji praising Lee Hee-jin as the epitome of innocence at that time.

Sugar ranked eighth, with Kim I-ji recalling, "I remember how beautiful they were when we were active at the same time. Ayumi was incredibly popular." Ayumi was known for her cuteness, while Hwang Jung-eum (황정음) was recognized for her beauty, and Yook Hye-seung (육혜승) for her sexiness, with Park Soo-jin (박수진) embodying a pure image. It was revealed that Sugar underwent rigorous training, including running laps around a track to improve their lung capacity, and Kim Hee-chul surprised everyone by mentioning that he made Park Soo-jin cry during a drama shoot.

Eagle Five, known for their hit 'Squid Alien', came in seventh, while Cleo took the sixth spot. Fifth place went to Five, with Lee Hee-jin expressing her admiration for main vocalist Jang Hae-young (장해영).

In fourth place was Chakra, featuring Jung Ryeo-won (정려원) and Hwang Bo (황보). Baby V.O.X mentioned their friendships with members like Shim Eun-jin (심은진) and Kan Mi-yeon (간미연), while Lee Eun (이은) and Yoon Eun-hye (윤은혜) were also close in age. Although the concept for Chakra was led by Lee Hye-young (이혜영), the unique styling reportedly caused some distress among the members. Kim I-ji and Lee Hee-jin noted that 2001, when Chakra was active, was Baby V.O.X's peak, saying, "We didn't know much at the time, but we learned from others that we were trending."

One Time ranked third. After their fifth album, member Oh Jin-hwan (오진환) enlisted in the military, halting their activities. Although they have not officially disbanded, they have not been active since. Kim I-ji admitted to having a crush on Danny (대니), while Lee Hee-jin shared that she was close to Song Baek-kyung (송백경) as they were the same age and met daily.

The mixed-gender group Shap placed second. Baby V.O.X had a friendly relationship with Shap due to overlapping activity periods and staff. Kim I-ji and Lee Hee-jin mentioned that they are still close with Lee Ji-hye (이지혜) and Seo Ji-young (서지영). Kim Hee-chul noted, "Lee Ji-young had a refreshing high note, while Seo Ji-young had a husky voice," and Lee Mi-joo reminisced about Shap's hit songs.

Finally, Baby V.O.X celebrated their first-place victory by performing 'Get Up' live on the show. Lee Hee-jin reflected, "Our first win was on KBS. 'Hair Day' was a flop," as she reminisced about their winning moment. She added, "The sexy concept was challenging to express. While Shim Eun-jin and Kim I-ji could mimic it, it was difficult for the other members."

Notably, Baby V.O.X was once invited by the President of Mongolia. Lee Hee-jin recounted, "It was in the news, but we were scammed. It was land that we couldn't possess because it belonged to the country." She expressed gratitude for their first-place win, saying, "We are happy to be number one and thankful for the invitation," while Kim I-ji promised, "As the eldest, I will try to persuade the members to create an album together."
