Apple TV+'s 'Severance' Leads Emmy Nominations with 27 Nods
The Hollywood studio Fifth Season, acquired by CJ ENM, has made headlines by producing the most-nominated series for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. On July 16, the Television Academy announced that 'Severance' (세브란스: 단절), created by Fifth Season, received a total of 27 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Writing, Directing, and Lead Actor and Actress. This marks the highest number of nominations for a single show this year.
'Verse' follows the story of corporate employees who undergo a procedure to separate their work and personal identities, living as different selves in the workplace. The series is directed by actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller. Season 2, which premiered on Apple TV+ in January, achieved record viewership on the platform within its first month.
Following 'Severance', HBO's 'The Penguin' garnered 24 nominations, while both Apple TV+'s 'The Studio' and HBO's 'The White Lotus' received 23 nominations each. Notably, Netflix's Korean drama 'Squid Game' (오징어 게임) Season 2 did not receive any nominations this year. The Emmy Awards ceremony is set to take place in Los Angeles on September 14.
