Apartment Resident Sentenced to Two Years for Assaulting Security Guard

A resident in their 50s has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a 70-year-old security guard at an apartment complex in Cheongju. The Cheongju District Court's Chief Judge Ahn Jae-hoon announced the verdict on February 16, citing charges of special property damage, assault, and concealment of property against the defendant, referred to as A.

The incidents occurred in August and September of last year when A allegedly punched security guard B and threatened him with a baseball bat after being asked to quiet down during a tirade. Additionally, A was accused of relocating a fellow resident's walking aid to a different floor, making it difficult to find, and damaging the communal package storage area in the security office with a baseball bat.

Judge Ahn stated, "The defendant has repeatedly committed acts of violence without justification and has not received forgiveness from the victims. Given A's prior convictions for similar offenses, it is necessary to isolate them from society for a period commensurate with their crimes."
